A reporter asked State Department spokesperson Victoria Nuland on Wednesday to defuse a controversy in India that erupted when comedian Jay Leno made a joke recently about GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney using the Golden Temple, the holiest site in the Sikh religion as his summer home.
