(CNSNews.com) -- A new survey by ABC News and Ipsos shows that 55% of Americans approve of the way President Donald Trump is handling the response to the coronavirus pandemic. Only 43% of American adults said they disapprove.

Those numbers are the reverse of what they were a week ago, when 54% said they disapproved of Trump's handling of the virus and only 43% approved.

In the latest survey, conducted March 18-19, ABCNews/Ipsos asked, "Do you approve or disapprove of the way Donald Trump is handling the response to the coronavirus (COVID-19)?"

Fifty-five percent said "approve," and 43% said "disapprove." One percent "skipped" the question.

Earlier, on March 11-12, the survey asked the same question and 54% said "disapprove" and 43% said "approve." (Three percent skipped the question.)

In the space of a week Trump's approval increased 12 percentage points.

According to the pollsters, "This ABC News/Ipsos Poll was conducted March 18th to 19th, 2020 by Ipsos using the probabilitybased KnowledgePanel®. This poll is based on a nationally representative probability sample of 512 general population adults age 18 or older. ...
