U.S.-Mexico Border Apprehensions Up 106% Since February, Up 317% Since 1 Year Ago

(CNS News) -- The number of "border encounters" in August 2021 was 208,887, which is up 106% since February, and up 317% compared to one year ago, according to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection. 

The August border apprehension number was cited exclusively by Fox News today, ahead of posting on the CBP website. 

As the website shows, there were 101,089 border encounters in February 2021, which was roughly one month into the new Biden administration, which started on Jan. 20, 2021. Those apprehensions were up substantially, 175%, compared to February 2020, when there were 36,687 apprehensions.

In March 2021, the number of border encounters was 173,283; in April, 178,797; May, 180,569; in June, 188,934; and in July, 212,672.

"I was just on the border & I've never seen it remotely this bad," tweeted Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) on Sept. 15.  "Last month was a 317% increase in illegal aliens apprehended from August 2020. Over 1,200,000 illegal aliens apprehended since Biden and Harris took office. Biden & Harris caused this. #BidenBorderCrisis."
