(CNSNews.com) – Filmmaker and liberal activist Michael Moore said on Tuesday night that just the act of removing President Trump from power will make Americans “beloved around the world.”

“I know that just the removal – Trump removal – will make us a better people, and make us beloved around the world,” he said. “Just for that reason.”

Moore was participating in a Michigan-focused virtual campaign discussion featuring Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and Michigan Democratic Reps. Rashida Tlaib and Debbie Dingell.

Moore, who endorsed Sanders for president in 2016 and 2020, used the opportunity to explain, in his view, the reason why “progressives” like himself should vote for Biden:  Kamala Harris.

“I believe that even though Joe Biden does not share our politics – those of you who voted for Bernie, progressive voters out there – Joe Biden could have picked any of a number of people,” he said.

“He could have gone to the right or to the left when he had a choice to pick his vice president,” Moore said. “He went to the left. He went to – as Trump reminds us every day – he picked the most liberal senator in the United States Senate. That’s saying a lot, considering Bernie is in the U.S. Senate.”

“So, I have a lot of trust in this.”

Wrapping up the discussion, Sanders stressed how critical Michigan is to the election – and to the goal of “transforming” America.

“This is a campaign not only to defeat the most dangerous president in the modern history of this country, it is a campaign to begin to revitalize American democracy,” he said. “Michigan is key to this election. If Trump wins Michigan, we’re going to have a hard time defeating him. You’ve got to make sure that he’s defeated in Michigan.”

“Let’s elect Joe Biden,” Sanders concluded. “Let’s begin the process of transforming this country.”

Trump in 2016 beat Hillary Clinton to win Michigan and its 16 electoral college votes by just 0.23 percent, the narrowest margin of any state in the nation. A Republican presidential nominee had not won Michigan since 1988.
