(CNS News) – America is a country where people “risk their lives” to enter and where there is no line for people scrambling to leave, said former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee at the Family Research Council’s Pray Vote Stand Summit in Atlanta, Ga., last week.

“If we had really been such an evil country going all the back to 1619, don’t you think it would have shown up before then?” said Huckabee.  “And how would we have just put it out of our minds?  The truth is we were a country that has always strived to be the kind of country that people would be willing to risk their lives to break into -- and we still are.”

“The reason we have the influx on the southern border is because people are lined up to get into America,” he said.

“Can you show me where the line is where people are just dying to get out?” said Huckabee. “There isn’t one, and it’s not because we lock people in. People are free to leave.”

“All the Hollywood celebrities that say, every time there is an election they don’t like, they are going to leave, they never do,” he added. “I wish they would.”

As CNS News has reported, "In fiscal 2020, Trump's last full year in office, Customs and Border Protection reported that it encountered 458,088 people trying to illegally cross the U.S.-Mexico border into the United States.

"In fiscal 2021, the year Biden succeeded Trump, the number of people CBP encountered trying to illegally cross the U.S.-Mexico border jumped to 1,734,686."

In just the first 10 months of this fiscal year (October through July), CBP has encountered 1,946,780 illegal border-crossers.

The Pray Vote Stand Summit held is a rebrand from the Values Voter Summit that used to be held every year in D.C. Sam Brownback, George Barna, Mike Huckabee, and other key conservatives take the stage every year to inform and motivate conservative Christians, and to remind Americans that they still have a voice in this world and can make a difference.

On its website for the summit, the FRC states, “We will equip and encourage believers as we discuss current cultural issues impacting faith, family, and freedom and evaluate these through the lens of a biblical worldview. We will cover important topics like protecting the unborn, the importance of the nuclear family, domestic and international religious liberty, and our education system as well as ways we can act and influence these for the benefit of our families, churches, communities and nation.

"As we do this, the PVS Summit will encourage believers to embrace the true source of our strength, the Lord Jesus Christ and His Word. Join us as we pray, vote, and stand in these challenging days!”
