( - Former Vice President Joe Biden, 77 years old and now aiming to become president, has set up a home studio to speak to reporters in these coronavirus times.

Biden spoke to a number of liberal outlets on Tuesday, including CNN, where host Jake Tapper had to remind him to cough into his elbow:

Biden, asked what he’s doing to keep himself safe, said he has been staying at home, not going out:

"And the good news is that, thank God, at least what I've been told by the docs, that I have no underlying condition that would complicate my circumstance.

"But you know, look, it’s about keeping – like, for example we're told that we shouldn't be around our young grandchildren."

Biden said the children of his deceased son Beau come over every day “and we sit on the porch and I bribe them with ice cream…we hang out, but I’m not able to get down and hug them and kiss them.”

Biden said he has not been tested for coronavirus: "I have had, thank God, no symptoms that I'm aware of. Doesn't mean that that can't happen. But I have not been tested."

Biden coughed into his hand moments after saying that.

A short time later, it happened again:

"I've not talked to any individual," Biden started to say, when he coughed into his hand again: "Excuse me," he said.

"You know, you're supposed to cough into your elbow. I don’t know, Sir -- I learned that actually covering your White House," Tapper scolded.

"Actually that’s true," Biden said. "But fortunately I'm alone in my home, but that's okay. I agree. You're right.

"It's just – it’s kind of old school to do it with your hand. Do it into your elbow, you're supposed to do it," Tapper repeated.

"Thank you," Biden said, as the interview continued.

In several other interviews conducted on Tuesday with other networks, Biden coughed and cleared his throat numerous times.
