( - Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D.-N.Y.) sent out a tweet on Wednesday saying that “Senate Republicans are acting like the conspiracy caucus” and “holding sham hearings.”

“In the middle of this public health crisis and economic disaster, Senate Republicans are acting like the conspiracy caucus,” Schumer said in his tweet.

“We need to focus on helping Americans,” he said.

“But Senate Republicans are holding sham hearings and turning committee rooms into studios for Fox News,” he said.

The tweet included a video of Schumer elaborating on this point while standing in a Senate hallway.

Here is a transcript of what Schumer says in the video message included with this tweet:

“We are in the greatest health and economic crisis we’ve had since the Great Depression and World War II and we should be coming together, working together to solve the problems that the American people face. Instead, what are our Republican colleagues doing? They’re holding sham hearings. They’re looking into conspiracy theories, many of which originated in Russia, that have no basis in fact, and going after President Obama and Vice President Biden. They’re making the halls of Congress into studios for Fox News. They’re very partisan and they’re not solving America’s problems. We have the greatest crisis we face, and they’re doing these sham, gotcha political hearings. What is the matter with the Republican Party in the Senate?”
