(CNSNews.com) - House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D.-Calif.) put out a “Dear Colleague” letter as the nation headed into the Fourth of July weekend in which she described the Fourth as her “favorite non-religious holiday.”

The Fourth of July is my favorite non-religious holiday, one when we all draw inspiration from the great courage of our Founders,” Pelosi said.

“As we go forward, let us recognize the vision of our Founders, always honoring their guidance, E Pluribus Unum: from many, one,” she said.

Dear Colleague to All Members on Fourth of July Weekend

July 2, 2021

Press Release

Dear Colleague,

This weekend, we gloriously observe the Fourth of July, celebrating the birth of our democracy and the blessings of liberty bestowed upon our country.

The Fourth of July is my favorite non-religious holiday, one when we all draw inspiration from the great courage of our Founders.

My favorite Fourth of July quote this year was presented by Barbara Clark Smith, a curator of political history at the National Museum of American History, who said that the signing of the Declaration of Independence was “an extraordinary achievement… They did find a way to put differences aside and join together to work for a common goal.  While declaring independence, they also declared interdependence.”

As we go forward, let us recognize the vision of our Founders, always honoring their guidance, E Pluribus Unum: from many, one.

Best wishes for a joyful and harmonious Fourth of July Weekend.
