(CNSNews.com)- Upon receiving an “Impact Award” from United in Purpose on Wednesday, Dec. 4, syndicated columnist and best selling author Michelle Malkin said, “I am an extremist when it comes to telling the truth.”

Malkin was one of 10 conservative leaders to receive an “Impact Award” in a ceremony held at Trump International Hotel in Washington D.C. on Wednesday.

According to United in Purpose’s website, the Impact Awards “recognize outstanding efforts of unsung warriors in numerous fields. Honorees are making notable contributions to preserving America’s liberties with their life work.”

The third annual event was hosted by Ginni Thomas, the president of Liberty Consulting.

In accepting the award, Malkin said, “The thing that I am most honored about is sharing the stage with you, Ginni, and also with the past award winners and present company of the Impact award honorees.”

“Because we all share a common zeal, an extreme zeal -- I embrace that word – yes, I am an extremist when it comes to telling the truth,” said Malkin. “And I know that each of the honorees here has been able to effectively use their powers of communication to do good and make an impact.”

“My parents taught me the value of growing up as an unapologetic, unhyphenated American,” said Malkin.  “And I try not to squander the opportunity that they sacrificed for me.”

“There are two main themes in all of the work that I have done and all the work that you do,” she said.  “And one is protecting family sovereignty. That is what binds social conservatives and nationalists together. And if we don’t defend parental and family sovereignty and the sanctity of life, how can we defend effectively our common national sovereignty?”

“It’s those two themes and those two fights that are so integral to ‘Making America Great Again,’ and ‘Keeping America Great,’” she said.

Malkin continued, “And if we’re not willing to make the sacrifices and stand up for and provide funding and financial support and moral support to the people who are willing to put their necks on the line to do it, then what are we here for? The differences between a simulation of fighting this war, and actually fighting it.”

“One thing that keeps me going -- and I know that it does you too Ginni and so many in this room -- is that we know if we are confident that we are telling the truth, no weapon formed against us shall prosper,” said Malkin.

United in Purpose, led by CEO Bill Dallas, is a non-profit organization whose mission is to “educate and encourage our membership to advocate for positive outcomes in the social welfare and public policy arenas across a broad spectrum of state and national issues.”

Other award winners on Wednesday included Abby Johnson, pro-life activist and former Planned Parenthood employee; Sharyl Attkisson, investigative journalist and host of “Full Measure with Sheryl Attkisson”; Eric Cochran, Pinterest whistleblower; Justin Danhof, general counsel for the National Center for Public Policy Research; Jason D. Hill, professor at DePaul University; Rep. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.); and documentary filmmakers Ann McElhinney and Phelim McAleer.

Jordan Peterson, professor of psychology at the University of Toronto won the 2019 “Outstanding Impact Award,” while Princeton Professor Robert P. George won United in Purpose’s “‘Lifetime Achievement Award.”
