(CNS News) – House Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), a self-described democratic socialist, said she wanted to “deck” a man who called her a “big booty Latina” and “hot, hot, hot like a tamale” in a video she reposted of the July 13 incident on the steps of the U.S. Capitol.

The viral clip shows Alex Stein, a comedian, lewdly calling Ocasio-Cortez his “favorite big booty Latina” as she walks up the Capitol steps with several other women.

She then approached him and posed for a selfie before proceeding to the Capitol.

“Look how sexy she looks in that dress,” Stein said. “Woo, I love it AOC. Hot, hot, hot like a tamale.”

The congresswoman said in a tweet that she was about “to deck him” and blamed Capitol police for not intervening. People are allowed to stand outside the Capitol and speak to lawmakers, even if their language is crass.

“I was actually walking over to deck him because if no one will protect us, then I’ll do it myself, but I needed to catch a vote more than a case today,” she tweeted.

“Since nobody can do anything, I’m just telling you,” said the congresswoman in her own video. “Because this institution is not designed to protect people. And it’s really hard and it’s really sad that my only recourse is to just let you know about it, but that’s the institution we’re in.”

While some defended Ocasio-Cortez’s reaction, others felt she was overreacting.

“This guy is a total loser,” conservative Fox News host Laura Ingraham tweeted. “But today, ‘decking’ a creep who deserves it may mean being charged yourself.”

“In AOC's bizarro logic, an offer to debate is catcalling; actual catcalling is violence; actual violent protest is vital political speech,” Daily Wire host Ben Shapiro tweeted.

Stein sided with critics who called the congresswoman’s reaction hypocritical because of her encouraging others to “confront” Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh and the other justices who voted to overturn Roe v. Wade.

In an interview with House Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), a conservative, Stein said, “These politicians, just like AOC, she said, 'Oh, go confront Kavanaugh.’ Yet, when she gets confronted, she melts down."

Stein admitted to using “overly sexualized” language, but said he was “calling out the hypocrisy” of allowing nicknames for Latin people.

“I was complimenting her,” Stein said on Jason Whitlock’s podcast. “Of course, I was being a little overly sexualized – but that’s why – because she always complains about the sexualization.”

“That’s why I said ‘booty,’” Stein said. “That’s why I called her a ‘hot tamale’…they’re calling people breakfast tacos, they’re literally giving the Latin community these stupid nicknames. Why can’t I say a nickname for her?”
