( - Jennifer Siebel Newsom, the actress wife of Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom, sent out a tweet on Wednesday complaining that “we run out of toilet paper, paper towels, and Kleenex tomorrow.”

Her husband on Thursday ordered that all Californians stay in their homes except for certain essential excursions—on pain of being arrested.

“One rose amidst all of this—family dinners and no late night homework stress,” Newsom wrote in the tweet.

“And nice not to have kids shuffling home late from sports and activities,” she continued.

“And, yes, unfortunately the thorn—we run out of toilet paper, paper towels, and Kleenex tomorrow,” she said.

“I wish people had not hoarded,” she concluded.

Multiple California newspapers ran an Associated Press story that indicated the Newsom’s tweet had been met with some scorn from the public

The Santa Rosa Press Democrat, for example, ran the story under the headline: “Jennifer Siebel Newsom says she’s running out of toilet paper for her household.”

One paragraph in the AP story said: “Her remarks were met with scorn. Several critics responded with the famous line of Marie Antoinette: ‘Let them eat cake.”

In addition to being first lady of California, Newsom is an actress and filmmaker.
