“You don’t get your own pronouns, just like you don’t get your own prepositions or your own adjectives,” conservative author and podcast host Matt Walsh told two transgender activists appearing on the “Dr. Phil” television show Wednesday.
Being exposed to Walsh’s rebuttal to transgender ideology so traumatized the transgender couple that they reported suffered nightmares afterwards.
“What you want to do is appropriate womanhood and turn it into, basically, a costume that could be worn,” Walsh told the transgender activists, sending shockwaves through the LGBTQ community.
My preferred adjectives are handsome and brilliant. Please respect my self-identification.— Matt Walsh (@MattWalshBlog) January 19, 2022
“Trans people’s identities are, of course, not a debate, which made the episode particularly painful to watch,” LGBTQ Nation reported, lamenting that Walsh was even allowed to debate transgender ideology on the show.
“You can feel however you want. I could sit here and say that I feel like a tomato plant, but that doesn’t mean that I actually am those things,” Walsh said, describing transgender identity as delusional and, possibly, mental illness.
“You can have whatever self-perception you want. But, you can’t expect me to take part in that in that self-perception.” Walsh said:
“You don’t get your own pronouns, just like you don’t get your own prepositions or your own adjectives.
“It’s like if I were to tell you, ‘My adjectives are handsome and brilliant.’ And whenever you’re talking about me, you have to describe me as ‘handsome and brilliant,’ because that’s how I identify. It makes no sense. You don’t get your own pronouns.”
After having their views challenged by Walsh, the two transgender activists have reportedly suffered anxiety, “depression spirals” and nightmares.
Walsh says he’s been sleeping soundly and peacefully.
