“Why go to a border state and not visit the border?” Fox News Reporter Peter Doocy asked Joe Biden before the president departed for Arizona for the announcement of a new semiconductor plant on Tuesday.
“Because there are more important things going on,” Biden curtly replied. “They’re going to invest billions of dollars in a new enterprise.”
After the video of Biden’s excuse went viral, drawing harsh criticism from Americans concerned with the border crisis, the White House issued a statement to Fox News Digital defending Biden’s claim, saying "President Biden is focused on real solutions, not political stunts.”
“And if border security is such a top priority for Republican officials, voting against President Biden’s request for record funding for the Department of Homeland Security,” the statement says.
“The President was clear that his top priority is investing in the American economy and in American communities, out-competing China, and bringing back American jobs from overseas,” the statement added, without explaining why Biden couldn’t make visiting the border his second priority.
