( her weekly press briefing on Capitol Hill on Thursday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said she’d like to go to the San Francisco 49ers playoff game on Saturday, but she’ll be too busy trying to save America.

“I have, unfortunately, responsibilities to save our country from peril this weekend,” the San Francisco congresswoman said, when asked if she’d be in attendance at her team’s home game.

“Are you going to the Niners game?” Fox News’ Chad Pergram asked Pelosi as she was leaving the briefing. Pelosi stopped, turned back and replied that her duty to save the country would come first this weekend, but she’ll be taking it “one game at a time”:

“It would be my intention to go. I went to the one game in San Francisco. We watched all together the second game in Seattle.

“I have, unfortunately, responsibilities to save our country from peril this weekend. So I - on my Democratic - wearing that hat of a political leader, this weekend.

“So, my family will enjoy our season tickets at the 49er game, and then next week - well, get one game at a time, and then we’ll see about then.”

The San Francisco 49ers play the Minnesota Vikings in a divisional playoff game at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California on Saturday afternoon.
