In an interview with GOP presidential candidate Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), a reporter on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” asked Rubio to demonstrate his lyrical skills.

“I read in the Washington Post that your staff in 2010 was very impressed that you could spit rap lyrics. I was hoping that we could get a demonstration,” the reporter said.

Rubio declined, adding that all the rap songs he knows from the 1990s would need to be censored.

“No we’re not, because the ones that I know from the 90s are not—they’d all be censored anyway. So, you know it’s funny you asked me that,” he said.

Rubio would admit, however, that his favorite modern rap artists are Nicki Minaj and Pitbull, who hails from Miami.

“There are a couple modern artists that I really like, but I like Nicki Minaj. I think she’s very talented, and Pitbull’s become a friend and someone from Miami that we’re very proud of,” he said.

“Is he going to come to your announcement?” the reporter asked.

“Yeah, he’s in China I think, so it’s, long trip, but he’s Mr. Worldwide,” Rubio said, a reference to Pitbull’s nickname.
