Commenting on the Democrats' drive to impeach President Donald Trump, Rev. Franklin Graham said the operation is not about uncovering the truth but is about "lying" and "spinning the lies." The proceedings are "unbelievable," he added, and stressed that "the only hope for our country is God."
On Thursday, Dec. 5, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) announced that the House Judiciary Committee would be drawing up article of impeachment against the president and that a vote on those charges could occur early next week.
In a Dec. 4 post on Facebook, Rev. Graham said, "These impeachment proceedings are unbelievable. The truth has nothing to do with it. It’s about lying—and spinning the lies."
"I believe the president did the right thing in asking questions and investigating corruption related to the Bidens," said Graham. "They want to impeach the president over this?"
He continued, "For three years, the president’s enemies have been attempting to remove him from office, using anything they could including the FBI and the media, and now a phone call to the Ukraine."
"It’s maddening what they’re doing to our country," said the evangelical Christian leader.
"Georgia Congressman Doug Collins was right when he said that the calendar is what is driving the impeachment push, not the facts," said Graham. "It’s all about discrediting President Donald J. Trump before the next election. Everybody knows it, but yet it still continues."
"The only hope for our country is God," said Graham.
