"Parents by the thousands should be attending their school board meetings by the tens of millions all over the country. They should be demanding either those schools open or that they get a voucher to send their kid to whatever school they want to," radio host Mark Levin said Thursday on "The Mark Levin Show," regarding the prolonged closures of schools during the coronavirus pandemic.

Levin honed in on the role teachers' unions are playing in keeping schools closed.

"The Democrats and the teachers' union have a stranglehold on our communities; they have a stranglehold on our classrooms," he said. "And I'm sick and tired of it. They don't believe in listening to the science. These unions are thug unions, they're mobsters, shaking down the taxpayer, shaking down the parents."

Here is a transcript of the segment below:

Mark Levin: You know, ladies and gentlemen, not enough attention's being paid to the fact that Biden and his administration have been disastrous when it comes to our schools and our children. That's because your children and your grandchildren are not their first priority. Not offending their teachers' union, wholly owned and paid for by the Democrat Party and vice versa, is their number one priority. Remember, it's about power for the Democrat Party. We have millions and millions of children in this country who have not set their foot in a classroom, since this virus broke out. We have other millions of children who have barely set foot in a classroom. I live in a county, Loudon County, Virginia, where a neighbor of mine told me -- I assume they're accurate -- that the teachers got a seven percent increase in this county, maybe it was five percent, he said seven percent; there should be no increase. Zero. Zero.

So suddenly it's righteous and it's science for teachers not to go to work in classrooms in these extremely expensive facilities that we've built for them. Not only should they get vaccinated, but the children have to get vaccinated, so that means another two or three years where your kids don't go into a classroom on a regular basis. That's not what the science says, that's not what the CDC said, in the Trump administration or this administration. And yet to listen to this administration, whether it's Biden or Harris or Psaki, they make no sense, they mumble their way through this, they contradict each other. I thought the whole purpose of having a family, of having a school system, was to raise our children, to protect our children, to make our children capable of functioning in the future adulthood, socially functioning, functioning within our economic system. Look what we're doing to them. Why are we doing this? Because the Democrats and the teachers' union have a stranglehold on our communities; they have a stranglehold on our classrooms.

And I'm sick and tired of it. They don't believe in listening to the science. These unions are thug unions, they're mobsters, shaking down the taxpayer, shaking down the parents. And where the hell are the parents? I don't want to hear about the PTAs and the PTOs; they're a joke. Parents by the thousands should be attending their school board meetings ,by the tens of millions all over the country. They should be demanding either those schools open or that they get a voucher to send their kid to whatever school they want to.

Why are we so passive? Why are we so passive? Parents should be organizing in every community in this country and all over the country and demanding that those doors be opened. We actually had school boards, school administrators, and teachers’ unions preventing our children from being adequately educated, even though we fund them and fund them and fund them. Why do we put up with this? Why do we tolerate this? If I were a parent of a school-aged child, and I'm not now, you better believe I'd be showing up at every d*** board meeting; I'd be stirring the pot.

I would demand one of two things: either you open these d*** schools because we paid for them and we own them or give us the tax dollars to send our kids somewhere else because we don't want to pay for platinum education and wind up with crap education.
