On Wednesday, CNN's chief congressional correspondent Manu Raju asked Senator Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) if it was okay for President Trump to refer to the coronavirus as a "Chinese virus," to which Graham said yes because "it came from China."

Graham added that the Chinese government, which is run by the Chinese Communist Party, has accused "American soldiers of causing this problem" and that early on the CCP "suppressed information that would have helped the world."

The exchange between CNN's Raju and Sen. Graham occurred as follows:

CNN's Raju:  "The president continues to call this the 'Chinese virus.'"

Sen. Graham: "It is, it came from China."

CNN's Raju: "You think it's okay for him to say that?"

Sen. Graham: "Yeah, I do. Because China’s accusing American soldiers of causing this problem. So, yes, we’re going to fight back. I’m not blaming the Chinese government – it did come from China.

"They have openly suggested that it was American soldiers who created this problem. This problem came out of China and I do believe that the Chinese government suppressed information that would have helped the world."

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the coronavirus "was first detected in China," and the "epicenter of the outbreak" was "in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China."

Back in January, CNN's Raju tried to ask Sen. Martha McSally (R-Ariz.) about opening the impeachment trial to alleged new evidence and she replied, "Manu, you’re a liberal hack, I’m not talking to you.”

Raju then asked, "You’re not going to comment about this?"

McSally again replied, "You're a liberal hack."
