The Media's Assault Weapon Lies Have Been Debunked Again

The media is currently pushing the notion that...

NPR: Study: Mass Shootings Are On The Rise Across U.S.

The debate on the cause of gun violence is an important one to be had. Unfortunately you can't have an honest dialogue when the person you are debating is reciting lies perpetuated by the media.

"Media hype about mass shootings in America has fostered a myth that the killings are on the rise and that an assault weapon ban, expanded background checks and greater attention to the mentally ill will curb a rampaging epidemic, according to an authoritative and exhaustive study by a noted criminologist.

"Instead, according to James Alan Fox, author and criminology professor at Northeastern University, mass shootings have remained stagnant over 34 years, averaging 20 a year, and few were committed by the type of berserk psychos portrayed by the media."

Stress causes people to snap, and there are many things that cause stress.

Some of those things just could be the result of intrusive and costly legislation written by politicians who (more times than not) know little about the topic they are attempting to affect.

Anyone in the newsrooms want to do a study comparing the amount of mass shootings when liberals control government as opposed to years when not-as-intrusive Republicans are in charge?

2013: Washington Navy Yard (11 dead): Democrat president and Senate

2012: Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut (22 dead): Democrat president and Senate

2012: Century Aurora 16 theater, Aurora, Colorado (12 dead): Democrat president and Senate

2009: Fort Hood, Texas (13 dead): Democrat president, House and Senate

2009: American Civic Association in Binghamton, New York (14 dead): Democrat president, House and Senate

2009: Michael McLendon shootings, Kingston, Alabama (11 dead): Democrat president, House and Senate

2007: Virginia Tech (33 dead): Republican president, Democrat House and Senate

and there was a drop-off during those evil George W. Bush years....

1999: Mark Barton shootings, Atlanta (10 dead): Democrat president, Republican House and Senate

Of course the left would see that as pure coincidence and exploitative. Just sayin'...

The point is the left has had every opportunity to curb gun violence and it only seems to rise when they are in charge. The very notion that employed people have less to snap about never seems to enter their consciousness. Their media accomplices lie to demonize a particular weapon and those they deem irrational enough to own one and that won't change for the foreseeable future.
