( - Christian entrepreneurs and twins Jason and David Benham are speaking to lawmakers and attendees at events in Cleveland this week, with a focus on religious and family values.

“We believe that God doesn’t take sides. He’s not a Democrat or a Republican, he’s not even waving an American Flag,” Jason Benham told on Tuesday.

“What God wants is for us to join his side, and when we looked at the Republican Party platform, you know it’s getting closer to being on God’s side.”

“They care about life, they even have a pro-Israel stand, really good stuff, marriage, religious liberty and all of these things and so we’re excited the Republicans are moving in that direction, we still don’t think ‘Republicanism’ is the answer. God almighty is the answer.”

“The Democratic platform is further distancing from God, as the Republican platform it seems was at least trying to inch a little closer towards God,” David added.

“When we say God we are talking about values, we are talking about family, we are talking about morals, we’re talking about human sexuality within the context of marriage. These are God honoring values it’s not that the Republicans came up with these ideas. This is what God says allows you to flourish as a people.”

The twins, who were dropped from hosting a house remodeling show on HGTV following controversy from their role in a prayer rally in 2012, say among the things they are concerned about is religious freedom in America.

David Benham told “If we don’t stand now while we have the freedom to speak, while we have the freedom of speech and we have the freedom of religion – when it’s taken from us, and that’s really where it’s heading, you have to have your head buried under the sand to believe those things are not threatened.”

“You know to say, ‘hey abortion is murder’, we want our lawmakers to protect our rights to say that,” Jason said.

The Benham Brothers are among the featured speakers at the Family Research Council "Celebrate Life" event in Cleveland on Wednesday.
