(CNSNews.com) – House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) confused the First Amendment with the Second Amendment when talking about gun rights on on Fox News Sunday.

“We’re talking about background checks, which is very popular even among gun owners and hunters. We avow the First Amendment. We stand with that and say that people have a right to have a gun to protect themselves in their homes, in their jobs, wherever, in their workplace…for recreation and hunting and the rest,” Pelosi told Fox News host Chris Wallace when he challenged her to publicly shame her “friends in Hollywood” to stop violence in film, television and video games.

The Second Amendment says: “A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.”

The First Amendment says: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”
