(CNSNews.com) – A woman holding a sign that read “Conceived From Rape” at the March for Life on Friday on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., said that she is not the child of a rapist but a “child of God” and that all life should be defended.

Chase Jennings, radio producer with the Family Research Council, asked Mary Rathke why she was attending the annual event to celebrate life on the anniversary of the 1973 Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion on demand and has resulted in the deaths of more than 50 million unborn children, according to the Guttmacher Institute.

“I’m here, because I was conceived in rape, and so many different times I hear people say ‘I’m pro-life’ except in the case of Mary Rathke,” said Rathke, who runs a Christian ministry focused on the sanctity of life, including those who are conceived from rape.

“That’s really my story, and I want everyone to know that while the world might think that I’m the child of a rapist, God looks at me and says I’m a child of God,” Rathke said.

“We need to defend all life. We need to care for both victims – the mother and the child,” she said. “We need to give her care and compassion, because pregnancy is temporary, and death is permanent, and she will carry the guilt of that abortion even though someone else raped her, so we need to love them both.”
